The other kind of web hosting software is the kind you use to create and upload your website.  This type of web hosting software sometimes gets the unfair reputation of being very complicated but in reality it is not that complicated at all.  It can be very powerful and offer a lot of options that you may never use, but the basic function of using this software to create a website is not complicated at all.

Most of the better web hosting software packages come with a tutorial that you can go through and become familiar with that will allow you to know how to use the software in its most basic form.  After that it is simply a matter of experimenting and becoming more familiar with how the software works and what the different functions can do.

Another piece of software you will need is an FTP uploader.  An FTP uploader is simply a piece of software that will communicate with the FTP portion of your website and allow you to upload your files for your website through your FTP connection.  The FTP is where the files for your website are kept so this direct connection can speed things up tremendously.  You can find reliable and effective FTP uploading software for free on the internet. Creating a website is not as complicated as you may think.  Just make sure you take the time to learn how to use your web hosting software and you will be just fine.
